the colour of possibility
you are a four-alarm birthday cake bonfire
blazing so brightly, I see you with my eyes shut tight
you are the here, the now, the gorging gobble
pure purpose personified
your story the sizzle snap roar of dragon breath certainty
I am a wave washing, washing, washing the shore
my dance an incremental sure advance
the record of my stay preserved in rows of shell and glass
laid out behind my neat retreat
strata of sand grains all aligned
you are the bright that makes the daisies blink
and sunflowers crane their lanky necks
the giddy fandangle-jangle of warm and fizz and cartwheel celebration
your rangoli romp ruckus leaves even the rocks rumpled and grinning
I am a chain of naturally occurring carbon-based molecules
my hills and hedges the history of all that I have heard
all who have lived, died, been born, multiplied and reabsorbed
my window – open to the world
the slight, the mighty, welcome here, important to us all
we are a gathering of accidental octopi
spinning weightless in the inky deep
a crazy circus clown car stuffed with clucking cousins
wearing mis-matched shoes and hilarious hats
together, we blaze, flow, radiate, connect
your blooming brilliance illuminates my complex depth
my sturdy roots invite your glancing beams to stay
together, our impact is inestimable
our possibility infinite
