Insights Learning and Development Vancouver

Team members of the Emergency Medical Licensing Branch of the Ministry of Health recently completed a full-day Team Effectiveness workshop, facilitated by Insights Vancouver Senior Consultant Kim White.

Thanks to Kim’s roving camera, photos captured team members building Gingerbread Houses reflective of their team’s use of the Insights colour energies. Team members had a lot of fun – and creativity and imagination were very evident.

One group took their gingerbread assignment to new extremes – creating a house for “Ken”,  a colleague who lives in a very remote area.  Two paramedic ‘friends’ of Ken came to assist at Ken’s house, and BOTH fell from the roof. (If you look closely, you can see the two casualties lying beside the house in the bottom right picture)  One gingerbread man has a neck brace and is lying on a Candy Cane stretcher. The second casualty severed a leg. This poor soul’s gingerbread leg was only held together by strands of red icing, so it must have been quite a fall! He was to be transported on the popsicle stick stretcher.

This team of busy professionals combined learning and laughter in an Insights-focused team effectiveness session.  The group applied the lesson’s learned and demonstrated team effectiveness through:

Focus: Each team had a shared purpose and a clear objective to create the ‘best ever’ gingerbread house!

Process: Team members worked interdependently choosing roles that best suited their mix of capabilities.

Flow: Team learning was at its best as the team engaged in dialogue that supported innovation, no two houses were remotely similar!

Climate: Fun, connection and inclusion …along with the merry sounds of Christmas Carols created a positive atmosphere for all.
